During the Covid-19 pandemic the Doctors and Staff at Hawthorn Surgery have had to adapt to new ways of working, to comply with guidance from Public Health England to safeguard our patients and staff.
Face to face appointments with doctors and nurses have been converted wherever possible to telephone or video consultations, and many patients have been signed up for electronic online services such as requesting repeat prescriptions, sick notes and medical advice, by using forms on our website.
The Doctors and nurses are also now required to put on PPE (masks, gloves, aprons, face visors etc) for face to face consultations, and have to thoroughly clean equipment and surfaces in their Consulting Rooms in between each patient contact. This means that although the number of face to face appointments has reduced, they are now taking much longer than previously.
As you may be aware, currently all requests for an appointment with a Doctor or Nurse are being triaged by the Doctors and Nurses, and this will continue for some time to come. Please be prepared to give the Reception Team as much information as possible, so that your needs can be thoroughly assessed by the Doctors and Nurses.
We would urge all patients who are able, to sign up for online access so that you can request medical advice, repeat prescriptions, sick notes etc electronically.
We thank you all for your patience during the last few weeks, and would like to remind you that your NHS is here for you.
